Welcome to Kilmorna Manor Guest House and Nature Reserve, Guest House accommodation
 in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
Welcome
Kilmorna Manor is a unique, one of a kind home, that was designed and built by an eccentric Irishman who decided that he wanted to have the best of both worlds: his deep love of the Lowveld Bush coupled with the gracious lifestyle of an English country squire. The result is one of the most unique homes to be found in Mpumulanga. A Tudor mansion of magnificent proportions set on a 208-hectare nature reserve high up against the escarpment of Schoemanskloof. Kilmorna Manor was recently purchased and lovingly converted into a guest house for the discerning traveler by Philip and Laura-ann Ovis. It has always been a dream of both Philip and Laura-ann to own and run a unique guest house that reflects their lifestyle and love of life. It has taken them nearly three years to create the perfect environment for the guest who requires luxurious and pampered accommodation in an unspoiled and natural environment.

Kilmorna Manor – for a never to be forgotten experience.
Location
Situated in the Schoemanskloof Valley Mpumulanga, Kilmorna Manor is a mere 3 hours drive from Johannesburg. The bustling metropolis of Nelspruit is 45 minutes away and the Malelane Gate to the Kruger National Park is 1.5 hours away.

For guests who prefer to fly in, the new Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport , is 45 minutes away.
Description
Kilmorna Manor, surrounded by unspoiled bush, is home to a wide variety of plant life from ancient gnarled trees to endangered cycads as well as fields of magnificent indigenous wild flowers. Sightings of soaring crowned eagles to darting brown hooded kingfishers abound.

Take a gentle stroll through the grasslands, or for the more adventurous, a walk up mountain paths for the most spectacular view of the Schoemanskloof Valley. And for those who just want to relax – enjoy a sundowner on the deck of the rim flow pool and watch the zebra and eland graze a few meters away.

Kilmorna Manor has six gracious en-suit bedrooms, each leading out onto the lush sub-tropical garden, which is home to a wide variety of bird life, including the elusive Narina Trogon. Knysna and purple crested loeries grace the indigenous gardens as well as sunbirds that can be seen darting through the trees and aloes which line the stream flowing through our garden.

Kilmorna Manor is well situated for day expeditions in and around Mpumulanga including Kaapsehoop, Dullstroom and The Kruger National Park.

Kilmorna Manor offers an experience, which includes gracious living in a serene intimate setting. Continental and English style breakfasts are served on the large patio overlooking the garden with dinners being offered in the elegant wood paneled dining room. Fine wines can be enjoyed before dinner in the old world English style pub, which features an Elizabethan style fireplace for those chilly evenings.

All six exquisitely decorated en-suite bedrooms are a haven of luxury, serenity and peace.

Each room includes full en-suite bathrooms featuring both bath and shower with the exception of Room one which offers a therapeutic massage shower. All bathrooms offer heated towel rails.

In-room gas fireplaces and electric blankets ensure that crisp winter nights are perfectly taken care of.

ACTIVITIES

The name Mpumulanga is derived from the Swazi word, which means “the place where the sun rises”. This unique province spans over an area of 78 000 kms square and offers a vast diversity of magnificent views, historic sights and wildlife comparable with no other province. This ranges from the grandeur and breathtaking views of our mountains, the splendour of our waterfalls, to the abundance of our wildlife.

Kilmorna Manor offers the ultimate in pampered luxury and tranquility, starting with a sundowner on the deck of the rim flow pool surrounded by magnificent views of wide-open spaces. We also have a variety of different nature walks ranging from a gentle stroll through the gardens to a more energetic climb up the mountain. Walks are through the 600 hectare Greater Kilmorna Conservancy where you might just encounter zebra, eland, bushbuck, the indigenous red duiker or grey duiker in their natural unspoiled environment. Remember to take your binoculars for some exciting and rare bird spotting.

For the more adventurous the Schoemanskloof area also offers quad bike trails, accredited hiking trails or walks along the Crocodile River – keep your eyes open for the resident hippos!

Set off early with a delicious packed lunch from Kilmorna Manor and go further a field. How about the Kruger National Park , which is only 1.5 hours away?

A must, especially in spring and summer, is a visit to the Lowveld National Botanical Garden where there are over 600 naturally occurring plant species. Of the approximately 1000 tree species indigenous to South Africa, over 650 can also be seen in the garden.

Close to Kilmorna Manor is the Country Horse Trail center where you can unwind and enjoy the beautiful scenery on horseback.

For those who prefer transport of the four wheeled kind, then how about driving the Panorama route which includes the third largest canyon in the world, Blyde River Canyon, as well as the world renowned God's Window.

Interested in prehistoric times? Then visit the oldest known caves in the world, The Sudwala Caves, where you can take an hour-long tour back in time when warm shallow in-land waters covered the area and dinosaurs roamed the earth.

How about visiting the quaint town of Dullstroom for a spot of bird watching of the raptor kind at the unique Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation Centre, home to a large collection of hawks, eagles, falcons and owls. Try to be there at either 10h30 or 14h30 for their daily flying displays.

For those keen fishermen, both amateur and professional who are guests at Kilmorna Manor, please remember to bring your rod and tackle for a variety of different fishing including river, lake and pond fishing. Big Sky Fly Fishing and Outdoor offers superb river fly-fishing for rainbow trout on the Sabie River or Lake Olaf. They also provide all tackle needed as well as tutoring in the art of fly-fishing.

For the adrenalin junkies there is Induna Adventures who specialise in white water rafting, kloofing, abseiling, mountain biking, climbing walls and paintball adventures. Or go abseiling with Roc ‘n Rope at one of 550 cliff faces at Waterval-Boven.

Take to the skies with Aviation Adventures and participate in one of their daily scenic flights in a fixed-wing Micolight. Choose your dream trip from a range of different flights including the Sabie River Valley, or the impressive Da Gama Dam, God's Window, or the incredible Blyde River Canyon, or along the fence of the Kruger National Park where you might spot one of the big 5.

After a life changing experience such as this, head back to Kilmorna Manor, where after a soak in the tub, re-live your adventures in the cozy fully equipped pub.

To ensure that you are not disappointed, Laura-ann will be happy to book any of the activities for you and all you have to do is pay for your chosen activity directly.
