Restinations in the Media & Press |
 |
|
Restinations
has started in life with a bang and
the explosion continues as our marketing
department pumps the Restinations
brand through the media.
Not content with being merely an internet
business, Ronan Duff - CEO of Restinations,
is adamant to make Restinations become
the most recognisable brand and the
most valuable source of travel information
in South Africa. |

|
"We
are so reliant on search engine rankings
that we put all our effort and time
in to trying to better the copy and
linkage of our web sites that we forget
the alternative avenues of marketing
and advertising.
The trick is to have a vivid picture
of where you want to be, then look
around to find the best possible solutions
and vehicles of support to get you
there. The world is for the taking
and if you are clever enough, you
will get your part of it."
"I base my life and businesses
on one thing - FUN!
If I can get involved in something
special that makes my life fun, I'll
do it; and if what I do spills over
on to those around me and causes them
to have as much fun, all the more
better"
"I look around the market place
and see where people are being taken
for the biggest ride and then start
up something that brings relief to
the people and huge competition to
those abusing their status.
Large companies are an easy target,
and I never think small, so when I
see the opportunity to take them on,
I go for it!" |

Restinations
had is official launch party in their
home town of Pietermaritzburg on the
East Coast of South Africa in the
most exquisite part of the country
- KwaZulu-Natal.
Ronan
sat down and thought of the best way
to wake up "Sleepy Hollow"
and to help the local tourism board
market Pietermaritzburg as a destination
of fun and not only as a quite retreat.
By combining Restinations with local
businesses, Ronan was able to show
how the City can come together with
one goal in mind, and at the same
time promote Restinations.
A bed, a tux & wedding gown and
throw in a couple of models, and mix
them all up in the center of the City,
Church Street to be exact and - BAM
- the local newspaper even came out
and featured the Restinations launch
in the next days issue.
Hundreds of people milled around to
see what on earth a bed, a bride and
groom and a whole bunch of models
in their PJ's were doing in the middle
of town...
Even the chairman of the board of
PMB Tourism came along and gave Restinations
his and the Tourism Boards full support.
At the time we had just under 3000
accommodation establishments in the
Restinations database.
(We are way past that figure now) |

Hungry
for more, Ronan began setting his
eyes on bigger media exposure campaigns
and landed an unusual time slot on
SABC3. Every night from 12am - 2am,
The World Today, a people and events
and news show is shown.
Ronan got hold of the Executive Producer
and arranged to meet with them in
Johannesburg to sell his idea.
The Restinations management went up
for a weekend (another meeting was
in the pipelines which Ronan had not
spoken to us about, so it was a dual
purpose trip).
We filmed an interview on the Monday
which was shown during the World Today
show.
The World Today has over 1 million
people watching from South Africa
- showing that Restinations is reaching
the people without having to rely
on search engine rankings alone. |

Ronans'
plans with the exposure on The World
Today were to punt his home province
- KwaZulu-Natal, and in particular
the KZN Inlands such as the Midlands,
Drakensberg and Zululand.
Continuing with the success of The
World Today interview, and the building
of bridges with the SABC, Restinations
are launching their very own travel
documentary and will be filming in
December 2004 in Durban.
Our BEO production company is based
in KZN and once again we are able
to make ends meet using local resources.
Our plans are for a short 10 minute
documentary which will develop into
a full 13 part seasonal 30 minute
documentary for prime time television.
e-TV and SABC3 have already shown
a keen interest including several
major advertising sponsors.
The successes we have had to date
prove to us and our clients that Restinations
is the right place to be.
We continue to think out of the box,
and strive for bigger and better things.
By us remaining in the media, our
brand becomes more popular and this
way, we are able to take care of our
clients and ensure that they get the
recognition and bookings which allows
them to stay opened.
Ronan is a firm believer that no government
official is as powerful an ambassador
for a country than those people that
let visitors into their homes and
accommodation establishments, praising
South Africa and their province.
