The Eastern Cape, along South Africa's
East Coast, just south of KwaZulu-Natal;
is one of the most treasured places in South Africa.
Former President of South Africa - Nelson Mandela was
born in the Eastern Cape, and on the 11th of February
2000, at a function to coincide with the tenth anniversary
of the release from prison of Mr Mandela in 1990, the
Nelson Mandela Museum was opened, constructed on the
ruins of his childhood school.
